Papercraft LEGO Pirates Governor Broadside (Gouverneur Grootzeil) WIP 1!

The arch-enemies of Captain Redbeard (called "Kapitein Knoest" in Dutch) and his Pirates during their first few years as part of the LEGO line were Governor Broadside ("Gouverneur Grootzeil") and his Imperial Soldiers!

Under the leadership of Governor Broadside, the Imperial Soldiers had amassed a large gold treasure, stored safely away in their "Eldorado Fortress" ("Soldatenfort 'Schatwacht'", set 6276) and were hunting down the Pirates with their flagship, the "Caribbean Clipper" ("Soldatenschip 'De Overwinning'", set 6274) to prevent Captain Redbeard from stealing their treasure.

There were several smaller Imperial Soldiers sets too, but the "Caribbean Clipper" and "Eldorado Fortress" were the only two sets that featured Governor Broadside, making his minifig much rarer than Captain Redbeard, who appeared in most Pirates sets.

Most of Governor Broadside can be considered a "repaint" from my other papercraft LEGO minifigs: he has a different face with a moustache, stubbles and sideburns and an elaborately decorated jacket and bicorne, but one new part will be the Triple Feather Plume, in addition to the simpler, Small Feather Plume of the Forestmen and the Dragon Feather Plume from the Black Knight!

But first, the "old" parts that just need repainting:

Stay tuned! ;o)

  1. Yey.

    1. He's a lot like Captain Redbeard of course, so most parts won't be a problem! ;o)
