Star Trek U.S.S. Defiant NX-74205

Although this is a picture of my original hand drawn version of the U.S.S. Defiant, this post is actually about a retexture done by a certain person calling himself Bones McCoy.

A couple of years back, Bill Perry already did a redraw on my Defiant model, and now Bones has taken that version and edited the textures again!

I'm afraid I don't have a finished picture of it for you (hence the old one ;o) but here's the link if you want to check it out:

Ben 10 Omnitrix by Ryan Mangion

Papercraft has become very popular the past two years or so, and a lot of people are also creating their own models now.

And that's exactly what Ryan Mangion did: he made a papercraft Omnitrix from the Ben 10 cartoon!

In the cartoon, the Omnitrix is a device that allows the main character Ben to change form into several different aliens! (I'll let you do the guessing how many different forms Ben can assume... ;o)

Ryan made his paper version of the Omnitrix wearable around the wrist just like in the cartoon as you can see, and he also made the silhouettes of the different aliens interchangeable, so you can choose which one you would like to be!

Josh Darrah's (PaperJoz) King of Red Lions sea base

Well, it's finally here!

A lot of people asked me about this, and Josh sure took his time preparing it for the release, but I think you'll understand why when you see it. ;o)

It's Josh's long-awaited sea base for my King of Red Lions model. The download is located at Josh's hall of fame listing, where you can also see some more pictures of the sea base in action.

Have fun building and be sure to let Josh know (his e-mail is on the template) if you like it!

Piotr Koper's Aliens Caterpillar P-5000 powerloader papercraft

If you like challenging paper models, then here's another one I managed to track down for you: a very detailed model of the Caterpillar P-5000 powerloader, that Ripley uses to fight the Alien Queen in the last scene of the Aliens movie!

I downloaded it a couple of years ago from the Polish Konradus forum, but when I was checking my links collection a little while ago, I found that the the original forum thread had died... (http://www.konradus.com/szufladki/caterpillar/index.php)

I managed to contact the designer, Piotr Koper (aka Klaymen), though, and he was very kind in giving me permission to host the model on my own webspace so that I can share it here with you guys!

The picture I used is from a more than amazing build thread done by morph on the French "Forum en Papier". If you want to try this great model yourself, you might want to check out the tons of great pictures there to see how to assemble all the parts:

Armor Bimbo's Warhammer 40k Leviathan Crusader Titan and Firefly "Serenity"

Even if you haven't played it yourself, at one point or another, you have probably heard about the tabletop game Warhammer 40k. It is played with armies of miniature figurines, although some models can't really be called "miniatures" anymore...

Your average soldier in Warhammer 40k scale isn't very big, but the biggest of the Titans (a class of mechanized units) can be several feet tall! These Imperator Titans are quite literally walking castles, and dwarf all other units!

The look *really* cool, and are also *really* expensive (you already need a lot of money to even just assemble yourself a regular Warhammer 40k army...) and there are only a limited few of them around.

Sean, a.k.a. Armor Bimbo actually created one from scratch, being inspired after seeing a picture of the Leviathan Crusader from Dream Forge Games.

He allowed me to share it with you, and although it is untextured, you can get some pretty cool results: Shaun from Tanks and Trolls built some of Armor Bimbo's other models, like the Serenity spaceship and Mule vehicle (from the science fiction series Firefly) and the Paladin Knight (another, smaller Warhammer 40k Titan)

As you can see, you can get some pretty good (understatement of the century...) results if you put in a little work!

(PS: I uploaded another clue to my secret project to my weblog; this time it's a lot harder to miss ;o)
