So, back to working on Lulu again! As you can see, I made her skin much lighter, to make the final paper model look more like like Lulu on the game screen.
I'll have to see what it looks like on the printed version, but I think she'll need to be even paler...
I've also started work on Lulu's head; it will slide right over the neck which will make it easy to glue to the body, but as always, the biggest issue to find an easy way to attach the different layers of hair... ;o)
Stay tuned!

Laytoes' Challenge puzzle
Think you can crack it?
www.tinyurl.com/laytoes
I did make a quick paper model, but it's not needed to solve the puzzle. It's also probably more of a challenge to than the puzzle itself! ;o)
Have fun!

Planning ahead Lulu's assembly
So here's my plan on how to assemble Lulu's upper half.
By thinking about how the pieces will go together in paper, you can plan ahead to avoid the "hollow shell syndrome", which often makes things much more difficult to assemble than need be.
But hopefully this way, the final paper model will look better and be less frustrating/more fun to build!
You know, if everything works out the way I'm imagining. ;o)

New webpoll: how many paper models have you built?
I've been a serious papercrafter for quite a while now so I've built quite a few models already.
My recently released Paper Mario 3D was my 100th model, and before that, I also built several models that I found online for free, which is what inspired me to start making my own. ;o)
Of course some people like building just a few big and complex models, while others enjoy making lots of small ones. So: how many paper models have you built so far? ;o)
Concerning the previous poll, 155 people have voted again and I was even a little bit surprised with the results! ;o)
Although personally I prefer using a knife and most people that leave me a message or e-mail me tell me they use a hobby knife as well, in the poll you can see that quite a lot of people use scissors too! ;o)
Most people that use scissors, use small ones of course like nail scissors or special, tiny scissors from a craft's store, but even then, many people still use a knife for very detailed or difficult cuts.
What about you? ;o)
Have fun voting!

No PETA in Spira...?
I guess in Spira, there's no PETA; or perhaps it's just a synthetic fur?
A hollow cone shape might not be an obvious solution, but it will actually be very easy to make and glue on as a seperate part (can't really go wrong this way ;o) and will provide a good basis for the "slit and tab" method I want to use on Lulu's chest.
Which will in turn ensure that Lulu's bosom and shoulders will also easily get the right shape. ;o)

Lulu's lower half
With everything from the waist down (and the waist itself ;o) sorted out for now, one of the next things I'll have to worry about, is how to create Lulu's bosom.
I want to avoid the "hollow shell syndrome" because it will be difficult to build that way out of paper, and it will also be difficult to give the right... shape, that way.

Lulu's hands, part II
Progress on Lulu is slow, but steady. I tried a few things for the hands, making sleeve parts, creating arms, removing them again...
For now, I will stick with the solution where the open ends of the sleeves connect to the wrists directly, instead of making "a flat, inside part" to glue the wrist onto.
Without the lacy textures and made much darker, it looks better this way, I think. ;o)

Lulu's hands
This time, I want to give Lulu more detailed hands (original on the left, new one at the right). I think I need to make it a bit smaller, but I'm also not sure about the inside of Lulu's sleeves: of course I could make just the hands like in the original model, but I think it will look better with a bit more arm. ;o) Stay tuned!
