Neon Genesis Evangelion from Gainax is still one of my favourite anime series, and Rei Ayanami is probably one of the most popular anime girls in Japan!
Everybody in Neon Genesis Evangelion has their secrets, and the shy, estranged Rei Ayanami is no different... (well actually she is, but go watch the 1995 anime to see what I mean! ;o)
