The Takeshima (Dokdo/Liancourt Rocks) and Senkaku (Diaoyu/Pinnacle Islands) islands are two groups of islands whose sovereignty over them is disputed by Japan and South-Korea and China respectively.
So you can imagine the politics over them, but more fun are the two short quizzes on the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat website (or rather, the prizes for completing the quizzes are: two cute papercrafts of Shimaneko and Paiguru, the mascots for Japan's Shimane and Okinawa prefectures! ;o)
Cabinet Secretariat papercraft quizzes website:
- On the first page, choose to take the quiz for Shimaneko (click the green 竹島問題について button) or Paiguru (click the blue 尖閣諸島について button).
- On the next page, there will be some information about either the Takeshima or Senkaku islands that the quiz will be about; click the クイズに答える button at the bottom to start the short quizzes:
- The two or three questions are multiple choice, so if you can't read Japanese, you can simply trial-and-error your way through them*:
- If you get one of the questions wrong, you will have to start again; when you get all two or three questions right, you will be taken to the download page where you can click the ダウンロードする button at the bottom top download PDF file.
Have fun! ;o)
Shimaneko quiz: 1-1, 2-2, 3,3
Paiguru quiz: 1-1, 2-2
Shameless Japan, the Diaoyutai Islands belong to Taiwan, and the Liancourt Rocks belong to Korea....
