free 2015 Puurveense Molen windmill

When foreigners think about the Netherlands, their minds undoubtedly wander to rows and rows of windmills (those are the ones we used to claim much of our land from the seas!)

And while it's true, we do have a lot of historical windmills (more than a thousand actually, we even have a National Mill Day each year!), most of them nowadays are just solitary grain windmills (and many of them are still maintained and in operation by volunteers!)

So of course we have papercraft versions of some of them too! 😀

This "Puurveense Molen" one looks very historical, but it was actually built in 2015 to replace a mill that was lost to a fire many years before. It was however 'rebuilt' at a different location and in a very different style from the original one, using the carcass of a whole other windmill...

the old windmill was actual a different, shorter one from the 'rebuilt' one
