free papercraft Rotterdam cube-house (+more!)

Dutch architecture is famous all over the world, and some buildings you might have seen images of and didn't even realize they were from the Netherlands!

For example you might have seen these literal cube-houses that were designed by Dutch architect Piet Blom and built in the 1980's in Rotterdam, maybe in the 1998 movie "Who am I?" with Jackie Chan? 😉

The 38 cube houses and 2 bigger cubes are built on stilts like a forest of cube trees  leaving the ground unoccupied  so pedestrians and even a busy road can pass under.

And another thing is how the architect put the cubes free papercraft Rotterdam cube-house, which most people is the craziest part! One of the first questions usually is: "so are the walls on the inside slanted as well??" Well yes, of course:

(look around a bit in a cube house)

People still live in the cube houses, but if you happen to be in Rotterdam some time (it's just across from metro and train station Blaak 🚇🚆) one of the cube houses is turned into a museum house for people to take a look inside on certain times (link)

And oh yeah: as you can see above, of course there are papercrafts of it! 😊

In fact, Lex Tempelman, a professional papercraft maker (who besides selling papercraft kits also has some cool freebies to download from his website!) came across one that was sold in 1986. He felt however that it was bit small and lacking in detail and the colors had faded from over time, so he decided to digitally update it - and share it for free on his website! 😀
