free Tanabata Star Festival papercraft

Today, the seventh day of the seventh month is Tanabata in Japan, starting a festival when people write their wishes for good fortune on strips of paper and hang them on bamboo so they may come true. 🎋

It's also called "Star Festival" 🌟🌟, after the bright twin stars Altair and Vega representing the low cowherd Hikoboshi and Orihime, the daughter of the great Sky King of the Universe. Hikoboshi and Orihime are always separated on either side of the Celestial River (a brightlit band in the sky of our Milky Way) but according to folklore, on the seventh day of the seventh month, they can meet again and fall in love again each year.

So besides the wish for good fortune, Tanabata is also a very romantic festival. 💑
