The Lilac was a steam-powered lighthouse tender, carrying supplies to lighthouses and maintaining buoys for the U.S. Lighthouse Service and the U.S. Coastguard until she was decommissioned in 1972.
The Lilac Preservation Project is an all-volunteer organization to restore the lighthouse tender Lilac as a unique vehicle for maritime education and community activities.
