free papercraft ELT (Extremely Large Telescope) by ESO

Even though the plan for the ELT observatory comes from the European Southern Observatory organization, it is being built at Cerro Armazones in the Atacama desert in Chile, South-America because:
  • At 3,000 meters elevation, it's literally closer to space so that there's less atmosphere to interfere with the ELT's observations of space;
  • The Atacama desert is a dry place, so the sky will be clear for space watching! 😊
The ELT is very fittingly named because with its 39-meter primary mirror, the Extremely Large Telescope 🔭 will be the biggest optical telescope when it will be completed (2028 if all goes as planned)!
