3D Duke Nukem papercraft WIP 5: to fold or not to fold?

As you can see I've been making the final templates for the 3D Duke Nukem papercraft I'm working on. After the test build, I mostly had another look at the X-3000 gun, edited a bit, re-unfolded it a little bit differently, but it will undoubtedly still be quite tricky. 😉

If you've seen a few papercraft templates before, maybe you can already see that this Duke Nukem version from the 3003 Manhattan Project game might well be (for lack of a better word) shapely enough for making a much more 'rounded' model (with a lot of curves instead of sharper folds). I'll deliberately be folding the parts though, because as I said before and by now I'm sure you know, I really like that "early 3D era" of video games, and the more 'blocky look' really makes it fit in!

Id you ever get into making your own papercrafts with Pepakura Designer, that's a good thing to remember: you can really change the look of the same papercraft by either making all the fold lines visisble and scoring them to make sharp folds, or you can hide (most) of the fold lines and make much more subtle curves. There is a certain treshold where some folds are really too sharp on the 3D model to ignore and change into a curve/bend, but you'll recognize those soon enough. Simple things like folding/not foldingreally make a world of difference. 😀
