During play testing of the Animal Crossing game, it turned out players could easily cheat by resetting the game without saving to make the daily stock at Tom Nook's store change until they got what they wanted.
So the game developers created Mr. Resetti, who would give the player a long lecture when they wanted to reset the game without saving, to deter them from doing this to cheat...
