In Japanese folklore, people say that the dark crater shadows on the surface of the Moon resemble a rabbit pounding rice cakes.
But regardless what shapes you see, the Moon is very beautiful, and the Harvest Moon in September is one of the most beautiful ones: this year that will be on September 19th, when in Japan, the Otsukimi (Moon Viewing) festival will be held when people can eat dumplings and traditional autumn fruit while gazing at the Moon... ;o)
