Let's face it

Faces are hard to make out of paper at a small scale, because they have so many small details, much more than any other part of the body...

  1. i think you shouldn't have him smiling, just keep the normal face expression.

  3. Or you might want to release different face versions :P That way, everyone's happy.

    Customizable crafts ftw :P

  4. I think it's just impossible to make *everyone* happy I'm afraid, so I don't really want to try... ;o)

Customizable parts can be fun, but more on simpler models, especially on "cartoony" ones, where the facial expressions are much more exaggerated.

I really feel it's better to make a choice for yourself and say to yourself: "I want my Link to be so confident that the feel of all the adrenaline from fighting monsters is actually making him enjoy his adventure", instead of making different versions of the face in an attempt to satisfy as many people as possible.

In the end, all you can do anyway is hope that people like the over-all look of the model enough to build it, so that they are willing to look past the personal preferences you put in your work. ;o)

  5. umm well you wouldn't be smiling if you were fighting some big scary monster like armogohma or something, would you? even a calm look would be fine, as long as its serious.

  6. Link would. ;o)

I bet the adventurer inside him finds it exciting to see how the player will use his skills to defeat even the scariest monsters, knowing that he will always pull through in the end!

  7. but he will have pendants right?

  8. @anonymous

you mean earrings? i have a good(ish) idea for the earrings. you (you=ninjatoes) could just make blue hoops with a tiny bit cut out at the top, then glue one of the ends to the front of the ear then vice-versa.

plus his hea looks kinda fat and deformes... but ninjatoes can fix that ;)

  9. I like the smiling Link. I think it goes best with his attitude.

  10. Yeah, I like the smiling Link too, it's a good change of pace to see him happy and a little cocky :P
I guess you made his nose texture a little bigger to accomodate the nose on the actual paper model, so it would be easier to build, if it was a bit bigger?
BTW, what made you change the size of his eyebrows? Was it because of the lines on his face or whatever?

  11. No, originally Link just looked so mad as if he was afraid that he might not make it this time.

    But that's just nonsense. ;o)

  12. yeah, the eyebrows are a bit small...

  13. He only makes it according to how good you are at Zeldas haha
I see what you mean, yeah, his eyebrows were a little too intense, you made him look more friendlier :D

  14. lol afraid and happy at same time?

  15. i dont see link as a coward

  16. Link's got the Triforce of Courage, he ain't no coward, for sure! :P But, being courageous doesn't necessarily mean you're not afraid, just means you're brave in the face of danger, and you will go for it, and overcome fear. Link's adventures are always dangerous and scary, but he keeps on truckin' :D

  18. lol mad face!

  19. I like the smiling Link!
But... The chin and the nose are too big. And I prefer the original eyebrows...

  20. It seems like maybe the eyes are a little bland, lack luster. Adding a shine might make it look somewhat better.

  21. I agree, his chin is too fat! Plus, he hardly ever eats anything anyway. A bottle of milk or some bee larva would be a fair meal to him. Also, don't forget about the pumpkin/reekfish/ordon goat cheese soup the yeti gives you at snowpeak! ;)

  22. ...and of course the hearts from defeated enemies to replenish his own health! ;o)
